University of Granada and FUNCAS scarbo@ugr.es ...We analyse for the first time whether trade credit provided an alternative source of external finance to SMEs during the credit crisis. Using firm level panel data on over 40,000 Spanish SMEs we find that credit constrained SMEs depend on trade credit, but not bank loans, to finance capital expenditures and that the intensity of this dependence increased during the financial crisis. Unconstrained firms, in contrast, are dependent on banks loans not trade credit. Overall, this suggests substitution between bank loans and trade credit that is conditional on the level of financing constraints and is more intense during the crisis. (100 words)....

Credit growth played significant role in the rapid development of Baltic economies especially since the joining to the European Union. In 2001-2007 Baltic states reported double-digit growth in bank lending. The boom in bank lending raised the question of whether the growth rates recorded in the Baltics can be viewed as sustainable in the medium to long run. The answer did not take long to present itself. More conservative banks‘ lending policy since 2007 resulted in slower lending growth rates while the turmoil on the global credit markets provoked credit crunch in the Baltics. The aim of the paper is to estimate whether strong credit growth was excessive in pre-crisis period and thus paved the way to the credit crunch in 2008-2009. If the results shows that credit boom did observed in the Baltics before crisis it is important to analyze how lending levels changed against equilibrium level during the crisis. Aprilia’s engineers could see the inherent goodness of Moto Guzzi 40-year-old, 90° longitudinal V-twin layout, and set to work updating its technology, eliminating its faults, and supplying a measure of their own handling expertise. Tragically, Aprilia broke its own bank renovating Moto Guzzi, allowing the Piaggio Group to buy both companies—undoubtedly another novelworthy story. But, the combined effort succeeded, Moto Guzzi has risen from the rust. Revised with a dedication to preserving the authentic look of Moto Guzzi motors past that would do justice to Harley-Davidson’s best efforts, the new engine looks familiar but could hardly be more different inside.
