In 1977, the Minnesota Legislature created the Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission and gave it authority to attract and retain professional sports for our region. This commission, which I now chair, took an important and vital step to ensure that the Vikings remain the Minnesota Vikings when we selected HKS Sports and Mortenson Construction to design and construct an efficient and sustainable facility that can serve our region for the next 30 years. Now we are moving ahead with the next challenge -- finding a way to get the stadium financed and built. It is important that the citizens of this state know that the stadium design unveiled in mid-December was created with the full involvement of the Vikings' management and ownership. Over the past two years, the commission has had a formal working relationship with the Vikings. Together, we've studied every possible scenario regarding the future of the Metrodome.
