This white paper is intended for those who are not experienced with projects and project management. We will explain what a project is, as well as explain some of the more common terms associated with projects and project management. By the end of the document you should see the value a Project Manager can add to almost any project. Most people view a project as a designated set of tasks needed to accomplish a particular goal. Using those criteria, many of the things you do each day could be considered projects. That is not always the case. In order to best utilize a Project Manager it is important to understand when one is needed.
A White Paper from the Experts in Business-Critical ContinuityTM Energy Logic: Calculating and Prioritizing Your Data Center IT Efficiency Actions First, while there Executive Summary has been a significant Emerson Network Power’s Energy Logic1 white paper provided a holistic, prioritized roadmap for reducing data center energy consumption. Energy Logic did not address data center efficiency directly because there is no universally accepted metric for data center output that could be used as the basis for this analysis. Now, the time has come for the industry to take the next step forward in achieving a true understanding of data center efficiency. The lack of a true data center efficiency metric is challenging to IT and data center managers as they try to justify much needed IT investments to management. It also adds to the difficulty data center managers have in comparing efficiencies across their data centers to prioritize where efficiency-improving actions will have the greatest impact. In addition, they need to be able to track data center efficiencies over time.

The New Threat Reality If the last decade is any indication of the types and volume of spam that companies are likely to see going forward, then it is clear that they are in for quite a battle from a variety of new, random and complex attacks with potentially catastrophic results. Spam started out simply enough as a way for advertisers to quickly and cheaply get their messages to a large audience. With thousands, to potentially millions, of unsuspecting people as targets, even meager response rates of less than one percent produced profitable spam campaigns and turned the in-box into the next “great” junk-mail marketing medium. It wasn’t long before email users declared spam a nuisance and the world witnessed the birth of the first anti-spam filters and Real-Time Black List (RBL). Unfortunately, as quickly as new spam-fighting technology and filters have been deployed to stop spam, spam emailers have been equally innovative,

This white paper examined functionalities that apply to all types of ...Section 1: Introduction The purpose of this white paper is to summarize existing studies about the functionalities of ebooks and human use of the functionalities, and to attempt to classify the various functionalities. These categories functionalities focus not only on the reader, but also on the functionalities that are required and/or desired by libraries as a kind of distributor of e-books. This white paper is meant to be an initial step to better understand what users and libraries want, need and expect from e-books and to communicate this broadly with the other stakeholders in the e-book industry. The authors undertook a fairly comprehensive review of e-book specific studies and a less inclusive review of the vast body of literature that deals with broad electronic text issues, such as annotation, marginalia and screen presentation. Types of e-books: An e-book, like a paper-based book (p-book or tree-book), is a combination of content and the physical object (and associated technology) that “bears” the content. For e-books, the three basic..
