Description

In the '80s, if an organization with several divisions wanted computers available to their staff truly the only alternative available was to have dumb terminals linking to a server which ran the products, stored information plus did all processing. The main reason being is that to receive any good computing force away of computers at the time they needed to be big, occasionally taking up whole floors of buildings.
