Too many sales people fall into the colossal bear-trap known as result-oriented thinking. Think about it, if the result of what you are trying to do (such as land a new client or upsell an existing one) is outside of your control, you need to focus on the process of selling rather than on the results of your work....What we can control is our response. Our response centers around our effort, energy and emotions. We each face challenges as sales professionals; some are more daunting than others. Wasting time with negative emotions like complaining about problems or blaming the buyer when you face rejection serves no useful purpose whatsoever. It only drains your energy and those around you.
